Student Letters: Meet Roy!
Dear host family,
Hello everyone! It’s the first time I write a piece of letter to a host family. So I am a little nervous. And first of all thanks for considering accepting me. I’m looking forward to be a good friend with you and a new member of your family.
My English name is Roy. Now I am 16 years old. I am a student in grade 10. I like going to school because I can study, talk, eat with my classmates there. I’m a little shy, and I get a little nervous when I meet a stranger. My parents and friends consider that I’m a friendly boy. I live with my parents. And they love with each other. My father is a knowledge person and he care about news. He sometimes watches TV after dinner, but he often works out. My mother wants to be a baker, she loves bake, she often make cookies for me. And I like to watch movies on my phone. Marvel movie is my favorite. I like spider-Man best, because he is a high school student, so am I.
I have a pet, it’s a dog, It’s named MaoMao, it’s 5 years old. First time I met MaoMao, it is under the table, it looks scared or shy, I have no idea why it was here. Until my mother tell me it is my new pet. It has black and white fur. And it doesn’t like taking a shower.
Beijing is the capital of China. It is also one of the fastest developing cities in China. Beijing has more than 20 million citizens. I am so proud that I was born in Beijing. Because in here you can communicate with the world more easily. Beijing is a dry city. It hasn’t rained from August, 2017 to February this year. There are a lot of delicious food in Beijing, Beijing Roast Duck is my favorite. I like sunny in Beijing. But Beijing often haze in winter. And we still working hard on changing it. It’s become better now.
I have studied English for three years. I have heard that studying abroad is good for my English. So I’m eager to catch this opportunity. I like traveling. I want to travel around the world when I grow up. But first I need to be a walking dictionary.
I spend time for my hobby. I have a lot of hobby. I like playing baseball, playing basketball and go hiking. l like taking picture anywhere and anytime. At home, I not only do my own things by myself such as washing clothes and tiding room, but also bear a little housework such as sweeping the floor and taking out the trash. In addition, I can also cook some simple Chinese food.
Do you have any advice for me? Are there any poisonous animals？What should I pay attention to?
Finally, I would like to thank you for accepting me to live with you and your family. I’m looking forward to meeting you soon.
