#SAEstories: Meet Tris!

Tris the Dancer

When choosing their English names, our Chinese students are very creative. Some choose their names because they sound similar to their Chinese names. Others will look up popular English names and simply choose one. Our favorite student names are the ones that get chosen based off a student’s favorite fictional character. As a huge fan of the Divergent book series, Tris fits into this last category. Like the character, Tris is a strong young lady who is curious about the world around her. She cares deeply for her brother, and they both value the time they spend with their family. Her favorite family activity is when they all play basketball together.

Beyond basketball and reading, Tris absolutely loves to dance. She tries to dance at least once every day. She goes to boarding school during the week, so free time is limited. When we interviewed her, she told us that she was very excited to spend a year in America. She hopes that during her year abroad, she will have a more balanced schedule and will be able to have some fun in addition to focusing on studies! With her outgoing spirit and her family values, we feel confident that Tris will bond quickly with your family!

Time is running out, but there are still spaces for host families during the 2016/17 school year. If you would like to see photos and videos of any of our students, simply fill out a free host family application and a program coordinator will be in touch with you!

Due to Department of State regulations, we are unable to share photos of students publicly until they have been matched with a host family and enrolled for the upcoming school year. For more information on Tris, or any of our other students, contact us at (512) 323-9595 ext. 3061 or emily@saeglobal.org.
