#SAEstories: Meet Lisa!

Lisa the Adventurer

Before any video interview with a student, we like to read through their application so we have a good idea of what to expect. The most helpful part of the application is the section where students and parents write introductory letters. In Lisa’s application, her parents told us that she was sweet but quiet, and often shy.  When we got on Skype, however, we felt like we had read the wrong application! Sure, she was a little quiet at first, but before we knew it she was speaking quickly and telling us all about herself. Behind her sweet and calm nature is a passion for trying new things and exploring as much as possible. Lisa sees studying abroad as the next big challenge to tackle, and we’re sure she will be just as successful in this endeavor as she is in everything else.

Lisa puts 100% effort into everything she tries. She started clarinet lessons in the third grade, and by sixth grade she had taken part in performances in Australia and Germany with her class orchestra.  When not exploring by foot, she explores the world by reading as much as possible. One of her favorite Chinese sayings is “read ten thousand books, travel ten thousand miles.” Through reading and traveling, Lisa hopes to learn about as many different cultures as possible. We’re certain that her outgoing personality and optimistic attitude will help her fit in with any host family! If you are passionate about exploring and learning, as well as teaching someone else about your culture, apply to host Lisa today!
