We ask all of our students why they want to study abroad, and a common answer is that they feel like they are different from other students. In their minds, America is a place where everyone is welcomed for their differences, and these students are all excited to be able to expressed themselves to the fullest. Like many other students, David introduced himself to us by explaining that he wasn’t a typical Chinese student. However, after getting to know him, we’re pretty sure he’s not your typical student in any country! In addition to being an excellent student, David has an array of hobbies that would impress anyone. It might not surprise you that he loves participating with the debate team, but would you expect that he also enjoys learning Latin dancing? Beyond fun extracurricular activities, he is also passionate about volunteering and has taken part in volunteer efforts all over the world.
When we started talking with David, it felt less like an interview and more like a conversation with an old friend. We were impressed by how quickly he was adapting while talking to complete strangers. His friendly smile and frequent laughter stuck with us, and we can’t wait to see how he makes his host family smile.
There’s still time to apply to be a host family! If you would like to see photos and videos of any of our students, simply fill out a free host family application and a program coordinator will be in touch with you!
Due to Department of State regulations, we are unable to share photos of students publicly until they have been matched with a host family and enrolled for the upcoming school year.
