Student Letters: Meet Federico!

Dear host family,

My name is Federico, but everyone calls me Fede. I am 16 years old now and I will be 17 the next september 3rd., so I will celebrate my next birthday in USA. My family and friends describe me as a spontaneous, creative and fun person. I live in Spain with my older brother Miguel and my father.

I am the third of 5 siblings, I have three sisters and one brother. My two little sisters live in Chile with my mother, her name is Daniela and she works designing purse and bags. She also paints and do pottery.

I am a responsible and orderly person, within the family environment I always try to do everything in a good mood. With my father and my bother I always spend very good times and I laugh a lot. I’m the one who cooks the most in my house because I like it a lot, as much as cooking as eating and trying new types of food. My favorite type of food is indian food, I love currys, and even I love healthy food as vegetables and fruits.

I did a 2 years cinema course where I learned photography and recording methods and many other important things about cinema, that I loved. I am the president of the school board of my school. For me, culture and art are very important because in my family it has always been given a lot of importance and I have been educated on it. I belong to a family of artist, my paternal grandfather was a realist painter and my grandmother also painted and my grandmother also painted and wrote books. one of
them is been launch next week in Madrid and talks about the life of his family in New York after the Spanish civil war. My great uncle is Federico Garcia Lorca, a poet and a writer from the 27 generation of the XX century in spain.

I love drawing, writing, listening to music, watching movies and taking photos. I like hang out with my friend, we used to spend time together in our houses, going to cinema, art shows, hiking in the mountains and most of all skiing.

I am a person of easy coexistence, with desire to know new cultures and new people, I know how to cook and I do not mind helping with household chores. I am clean neat and respectful. In my day to day what frustrates me most and I find it difficult are the math and physics which are two subjects that cost me a lot because I consider myself to be a more creative and artistic person.

One obstacle that I had to overcome was the separation of my parents which was very painful for me, but I decided to see the positive side and face that situation and enjoy the best of both. I’m still not quite sure what I want to study but I would like something like design or audiovisual. I look forward to living the experience of a school year in USA which my father and my brother already lived, I think this experience is going to be very rewarding for both me and my host family. I am looking forward to get to know you and I am very thankful that you consider hosting me for one year, I hope be part of
your family.

Student Letters: Meet Roy!

Dear host family,

Hello everyone! It’s the first time I write a piece of letter to a host family. So I am a little nervous. And first of all thanks for considering accepting me. I’m looking forward to be a good friend with you and a new member of your family.

My English name is Roy. Now I am 16 years old. I am a student in grade 10. I like going to school because I can study, talk, eat with my classmates there. I’m a little shy, and I get a little nervous when I meet a stranger. My parents and friends consider that I’m a friendly boy. I live with my parents. And they love with each other. My father is a knowledge person and he care about news. He sometimes watches TV after dinner, but he often works out. My mother wants to be a baker, she loves bake, she often make cookies for me. And I like to watch movies on my phone. Marvel movie is my favorite. I like spider-Man best, because he is a high school student, so am I.

I have a pet, it’s a dog, It’s named MaoMao, it’s 5 years old. First time I met MaoMao, it is under the table, it looks scared or shy, I have no idea why it was here. Until my mother tell me it is my new pet. It has black and white fur. And it doesn’t like taking a shower.

Beijing is the capital of China. It is also one of the fastest developing cities in China. Beijing has more than 20 million citizens. I am so proud that I was born in Beijing. Because in here you can communicate with the world more easily. Beijing is a dry city. It hasn’t rained from August, 2017 to February this year. There are a lot of delicious food in Beijing, Beijing Roast Duck is my favorite. I like sunny in Beijing. But Beijing often haze in winter. And we still working hard on changing it. It’s become better now.

I have studied English for three years. I have heard that studying abroad is good for my English. So I’m eager to catch this opportunity. I like traveling. I want to travel around the world when I grow up. But first I need to be a walking dictionary.

I spend time for my hobby. I have a lot of hobby. I like playing baseball, playing basketball and go hiking. l like taking picture anywhere and anytime. At home, I not only do my own things by myself such as washing clothes and tiding room, but also bear a little housework such as sweeping the floor and taking out the trash. In addition, I can also cook some simple Chinese food.

Do you have any advice for me? Are there any poisonous animals? What should I pay attention to?

Finally, I would like to thank you for accepting me to live with you and your family. I’m looking forward to meeting you soon.

ROY

Student Letters: Meet Nora!

Student Letters: Meet Nora!

Meet Nora Exchange Student from Spain

Hello!

I am Nora, and I’m 14 years old. I live in a really cold city from the north of Spain. Even though I like warmer places, I love my hometown. I live in a flat with my parents. My brother lives away from home, since he is in university. My brother and my father are triathletes. I miss my brother when he’s away but I get to see him a lot of weekends.

I consider myself a mature girl. I am very independent – I don’t like to rely on anyone. I always try to be nice and polite. I am an extroverted person, but it takes me time to open up to people. I am an open-minded person; I try not to judge things or people without knowing and I respect everyone’s thoughts, ideas, and likes. I can be impatient and a perfectionist, which can be a good or bad thing. I get nervous but I am working on that and getting better at controlling it.

I love to hang out with my friends. We have such an amazing time together. They go to the same school as me so we are always together. We share some hobbies but at the same time we have our own personalities so we learn new things from each other.

Here are some things that I love to do in my free time: I love to dance. I love every style and I am always dancing, with or without music. I love any type of music, especially classical, jazz, pop, and rap. I also love to play sports. My favorite subject is PE, and I have so much fun! I enjoy playing instruments. Music is something that calms me and makes me happy when I am upset or stressed out.

I take school seriously. When I get a bad grade, I always try to learn from my mistakes so I don’t repeat them. I always try to be creative and develop my artistic side. I try to express myself through music, paint, writing, dance, and fashion.

Student Letters: Meet Sofia!

Hello,
My name is Sofia and I’m 14 years old. I live in Spain with my mother, my father, my brother, and my dog. I’m currently in 9th grade. All of my professors think I’m a nice student because I get good grades and my behavior is good. Outside of classes, I swim and do sports. I also play tennis and dance 2 days a week, but not in school. Last year, I played basketball 3 days a week and on Sundays I would compete in matches.
My hobbies are photography (I love taking photos of landscapes and animals), makeup and fashion (because I love shopping), and traveling to different countries and cities. I also love watching football (soccer), listening to music, meeting with friends, and watching movies and TV shows.
During the week I go to school from 9 AM to 5 PM, then I come home, study, and some days I go to tennis or dance. Other days I will go to a fitness center. On the weekends I meet up with my friends and go out with my family.
My relationship with my family is very good. We are close and love each other. My role in the family is to help with anything I can and be an educated, intelligent, and kind girl.
In the future, my plans are to go to university and make a career in odontology. I would love to be a dentist and have my own clinic.
A family should host me because I’m nice, and all my friends and family say that I help all the people, and because I love spending time with family.
I can’t wait to meet you!
